AGU Media, DOHA (QAT): Vietnam claimed three gold medals out of five apparatus on the final day of the artistic gymnastics competition, but the host nation won the overall honours at the SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with five gold, four silvers and two bronze medals.
 
Dinh Phong Thanh took the honours in parallel bar (14.900) followed by compatriot Pham Puoc Hung and Thailand’s Jamorn Prommanee on Wednesday.
 
Vietnam, who finished second in the competition with five gold, three silver, won the men’s horizontal bar gold and silver, with Le Thanh Tung and Dinh Phong taking the honours.
 
Malaysia’s Jeremiah Loo Phay Xing finished third.
 
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s Farah Ann Hadi won the women’s floor exercise with 13.450 points.
Kaitlin De Guzman of the Philippines came second followed by Indonesia’s Rifda Irfanaluthfi.
 
Earlier, Rifda won her country’s first gymnastics gold when she claimed the balance beam with 13.25 points.
 
Malaysia’s Tan Ing Yueh and Kaitlin finished second and third respectively.
 
The rhythmic competitions will begin on Wednesday.
