17th Junior & 11th Senior Women Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships Kick Off in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan – May 24, 2024– The first day of qualifications for the senior category at the 17th Junior & 11th Senior Women Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships has commenced in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. This event is a critical Olympic Qualification competition, with one quota place for the Paris 2024 Olympics on the line.
The event follows two Technical Committee meetings and extensive preparations to ensure a smooth and fair competition. Rima Kizilgun, President of the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Technical Committee (WAG TC), expressed her enthusiasm and confidence in the athletes and the organizing committee. “We are thrilled to see such a high level of participation and dedication from all the athletes and teams. This championship not only showcases the immense talent across Asia but also plays a vital role in their journey towards the Olympics.”
The championship has drawn participants from across Asia, bringing together 50 junior and 56 senior athletes, representing 15 junior and 14 senior teams. As the competition unfolds, the gymnasts will be judged by a panel of 39 experienced judges, ensuring fair and accurate scoring throughout the event.
