Shenzhen baoan - gymnastics hallDoha (QAT), AGU Office, August 14, 2011: The 26th Summer Universiade kicked off today, August 12, with an Opening Ceremony at 8 pm local time.
In terms of size, the 26th Universiade will be the most impressive in FISU history. After Beijing in 2001 (Summer) and Harbin in 2009 (Winter), this is China’s third time hosting a Universiade.
For the first time in Universiade history, the governing body of international university sport (FISU) will broadcast the event live on its TV website http://www.livefisu.tv/. More than 100 hours of live streaming and 30 hours of Video on Demand content will be available to watch online.
The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) will broadcast highlights of the Artistic, Rhythmic and Aerobic Gymnastics competitions via its YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/figchannel.
Artistic, including Team and Individual All-around competitions as well as Apparatus Finals, is scheduled from August 13 – 16 at Shenzhen’s Bao’an District Gymnasium, while Rhythmic and Aerobic Gymnastics will take position August 20 – 22, with Rhythmic at Bao’an District Gymnasium and Aerobic at the Futian Sports Park.
