Asian MAG Gymnasts Stand Out in Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifications, China’s Exceptional Performances Lead the Pack
Paris, July 28, 2024 — The road to the Paris 2024 Olympics saw remarkable performances from Asian gymnasts during the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics qualifications. Athletes from the People’s Republic of China, Japan, Kazakhstan, Iran, and the Philippines demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication, securing impressive results across various apparatus and the all-around competition.
Team Results: The People’s Republic of China emerged as the top team with a score of 263.028, closely followed by Japan with a score of 260.594. Both teams exhibited remarkable precision and consistency, setting a high standard for the competition.
All-Around Results: In the individual all-around category, China’s ZHANG Boheng clinched the top spot with an outstanding score of 88.597. Japan’s OKA Shinnosuke secured second place with 86.865, while his compatriot HASHIMOTO Daiki earned third place with 85.064. China’s XIAO Ruoteng closely followed in fourth place with a score of 84.898. Notably, the Philippines’ Carlos Edriel YULO qualified in ninth place with a score of 83.631, advancing to the all-around final and reaching two apparatus finals – Floor Exercise and Vault.
Apparatus Highlights:
- Pommel Horse: Kazakhstan’s KURBANOV Nariman qualified in sixth place with a score of 15.000.
- Still Rings and Parallel Bars: China’s ZOU Jingyuan finished first in both apparatus, showcasing his exceptional strength and technique.
- Vault: Iran’s OLFATI Mahdi qualified in eighth place with a score of 14.583.
- Horizontal Bar: Chinese gymnast TANG Chia-Hung secured second place with a score of 14.933, following ZHANG Boheng.
- Floor Exercise: Kazakhstan’s KARIMI Milad qualified with a score of 14.433.
