8th Senior Rhythmic Gymnastics Asian Championships in Uzbekistan 2016

Doha (QAT) AGU Office, May 15, 2016: The 8th Senior Rhythmic Gymnastics Asian Championships will be held in Tashkent – Uzbekistan from 8 to 10 May 2016.
The Finals events of the 8th Senior Rhythmic Gymnastics Asian Championships held between May 8 and 9, 2016 and the finals events held on May 10, 2016.
The opening ceremony took place on 8 May before the qualification events with the presence of the board members of Uzbekistan Gymnastics Federation.
13 nations took part such as China; Chinese Taipei; Hong Kong; India; Korea; Kyrgyzstan; Japan; Uzbekistan; Kazakhstan, Malaysia, North Korea, Indonesia, and Thailand.

Witness 3 days of thrilling competition as gymnasts compete for prestigious Asian titles for senior to secure their place amongst the future of the Rhythmic Gymnastics in their countries. 
The competition schedule will comprise 2 days of qualification events followed by one day of finals where gymnasts will compete in all around, individual apparatus events and group finals.

Individual All-Around Final

Confirming the qualification event, the superb gymnast Son, Yeonjae from Korea dominate the individual All-Around Final with a total of 73.750 pts and the Gold Medal with an advantage of more than two points to the  Uzbek  Nazarenkova, Elizaveta  with 71.450 pts, followed by the Kazak Ashirbayeva, Sabina  with 70.500 pts and the bronze Medal.

Group All-Around Final

For the first time height countries participated in the group events such as: Japan, China, Kazakhstan, DPR Korea, Uzbekistan, Malaysia, Korea and India. The winner for the group All-Around is Japan with a total of 34.300 pts, followed by China with 32.950 pts and third Kazakhstan with 30.350 pts.

Group Apparatus Finals

In Group Ribbon, the domination was for China with 17.100 pts, followed by Japan second with 16.850 pts and in the third place Kazakhstan with 15.200.
In Group Clubs and Hoop, the domination was for Japan with 17.900 pts, followed by China with 17.250 pts and third DPR Korea with 16.175 pts.

Apparatus Finals

South Korean Son Yeon-jae was crowned the champion in four apparatus, a day after capturing her third consecutive individual all-around title.
She won the gold in ribbon with a new career-high 18.700 points. Sabina Ashirbayeva of Kazakhstan finished second with 18.300 points, followed by Elizaveta Nazarenkova of Uzbekistan with 18.000.
Earlier Tuesday, Son scored 18.600 points each in hoop and ball, and 18.550 points in clubs to also finish first.
In hoop, Ashirbayeva finished second to Son with 17.950 points, followed by Nazarenkova with 17.400 points.
In ball, Kaho Minagawa of Japan was the runner-up with 18.100 points, and Nazarenkova finished third with 17.950 points.
In clubs, Nazarenkova was the runner-up with 18.250 points and Ashirbayeva was third with 18.150 points.
Son is the first since Aliya Yussupova of Kazakhstan in 2009 to sweep five individual titles at the Asian Championships. Yussupova also accomplished the feat in 2006.
Son, 21, is trying to become the first South Korean rhythmic gymnast to win an Olympic medal in Rio de Janeiro in August. She ranked fifth in the individual all-around at the 2012 London Olympics.
“I am so happy to wrap up this year’s Asian Championships with five gold medals,” Son said through her Seoul-based agency, IB World Wide. “I will keep training hard for the Rio Olympics in August and will try to post good results there.”
