AGU conduct MAG, WAG judges meeting before Asian Games
JAKARTA, Indonesia: The Asian Gymnastics Union (AGU) conducted the judges briefing for the MAG and WAG technical officials attending the Asian Games here.
FIG MAG Technical president Artur Mickevics, AGU MAG Technical president Miao Zhongyi, AGU Technical Expert Anis Saoud and FIG Executive Committee member Mohammed Youseph Al Tabba were present.
The purpose of the meeting was to allocate the positions to different judges during the All-Around Final and the individual qualifications.
A video presentation was given on the Code of Points for the judges from Asia and Europe, who were also briefed on the do’s and dont’s while allocating points for the various exercises during the event.
The European judges are being used as neutral ones as there aren’t adequate number of technical officials in Asia.
However, AGU is putting in a lot of effort to improve the increase the number and their standard, and Artur’s presence before the Games was a case in point.
The Asian body is keen on developing the judges through various programmes while the mandatory technical briefing before an important competition is a right step towards that goal.
“Asian gymnastics will rise if we have more qualified judges and coaches at our disposal,” said Miao.
The competition starts on Monday with the qualifications as strong contenders China and Japan will hope to further strengthen their position in the continent.
Simultaneously, the WAG judges also had their technical briefing which was co-ordinated by AGU WAG President Rima Kizilgun while FIG WAG President Donatella Sachchi shared some valuable inputs with the technical officials.
