AGU Executive Committee Advances Key Developments at Doha Meeting

DOHA (QAT) – 21 January 2025  The Asian Gymnastics Union (AGU) Executive Committee convened in Doha on January 21, 2025, under the leadership of AGU President A-Rahman Al-Shathri. This key meeting allowed for important discussions regarding the development of gymnastics across Asia and provided an opportunity for the Presidents of AGU’s regional zones to present updates.

The meeting began with welcoming remarks from Mr. Ali Al Hitmi, President of the Qatar Gymnastics Federation (QGF), followed by reports from the Presidents of AGU’s regional zones. Mr. Miao Zhongyi, President of the East Asian Zone, Mr. Srayuth Patanasak, President of the Southeast Asian Zone, Mr. Timur Abduvaliev, President of the Central South Asian Zone, and Dr. Saqer Almulla, President of the West Asian Zone, presented their reports on the status of gymnastics in their respective regions, focusing on progress, challenges, and future opportunities for growth..

Additionally, presentations were made by the Presidents of AGU’s technical committees. Mrs. Gyozal Muminova (Rhythmic Gymnastics),  Dr. Liu Xing (Trampoline Gymnastics), Mrs. Aigul Dukenbayeva (Acrobatic Gymnastics), and Mr. Hariya Kazuyoshi (Parkour Gymnastics) Mrs. Rima Kizilgun, President of the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Technical Committee, and Mrs. Tammy Yagi-Kitagawa, President of the Aerobic Gymnastics Technical Committee, also provided important updates on the development of their disciplines across the region.

The committee also reviewed the AGU’s ongoing development projects. Notable discussions included the 2024 AGU Development Projects, the upcoming 2025  program.

Financial matters were also addressed, with the approval of funds for the 2025 AGU Championships, demonstrating the AGU’s continued commitment to hosting high-quality competitions across the region. The status of FIG judges’ courses was reviewed, with efforts being made to raise the standards of judging in gymnastics throughout Asia.
