AGU President thanks Indonesian Gymnastics Federation and Member Federations

Doha (Qatar) AGU Office: The Asian Gymnastics Union (AGU) President Mr Abdulrahman Al Shathri thanked the Indonesian Gymnastics Federation (Persani) President Ilya Avianti and all participating teams for the successful completion of the 15th Junior Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships.

“We take this opportunity to extend our thanks and gratitude to Ms Ita Yuliati and her team for the event’s success,” said Mr Abdulrahman.

The four-day competition was held in Jakarta from April 25-28 which saw young gymnasts from China, Japan, South Korea, Iran and Kazakhstan dominate.

“A big thank you from the bottom of my heart for your hospitality. We had a wonderful time in your lovely country. You made us feel at home,” added AGU President.

He also thanked to all the AGU Member Federations, who participated in the championships.

“Your attendance and collaboration is highly appreciated as it helped to make this tournament successful. Our primary goal is to foster and develop mutual understandings among the Asian countries. It was also a good opportunity for our juniors to showcase their talent at an important event,” said Mr Abdulrahman.

China ended the tournament at Istora Senayan on a high note, bagging 18 medals to retain title in the continental event.

But it were the Chinese girls led by Qi Qi, who overshadowed their boys in terms of number of gold medals won, which was organised by AGU and hosted by Persani.

“We thank AGU for their unstinted support in organising the tournament. We also extend our gratitude to all teams for their active participation and involvement,” said Avianti.
