Doha (QAT) October 15, 2011: AGU Office: Kohei Uchimura of Japan won the men’s floor title in the gymnastics world championships Saturday in Tokyo.
Uchimura collected an adjusted score of 15.633 points, edging out China’s Zou Kai, a floor champion in Beijing Olympics, by 0.133 points.
The third place was shared by Diego Hypolito of Brazil and Alexander Shatilov of Israel.
Uchimura, 22 years old, won the men’s all-around gold medal in the gymnastics world championships on Friday, making him the first to win three consecutive individual all-around title at the World Championships.
The Japanese champion won the individual all-around silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
China added one gold, one silver and one bronze to its medal tally on Saturday at the gymnastics world championships in Tokyo with Chen Yibing winning the rings titles, Zou Kai and Huang Qiushuang took the second and third place in men’s floor and uneven bars respectively.
Chen, known as the master of the rings, scored an outstanding 15.800 points on Saturday. He pumped his fists after staging a clean and impressive performance. Chen waved to the audience and kissed the supporting pole before leaving the apparatus.
“I kissed it because I have always believed I am deeply attached to the rings,” the senior gymnast said, adding he enjoyed the way he performed at the apparatus final.
The second and third places went to Arthur Nabarrete Zanetti of Brazil and Koji Yamamuro of Japan, whose scores were 15.600 points and 15.500 points respectively.
Chen had won three gold medals in rings at the previous world championships and was the gold medallist on the men’s rings at the Beijing Olympics.
Asked about the performances of Kohei Uchimura and Yamamuro, he said the emergence of these outstanding Japanese gymnasts had promoted the growth of Chinese gymnastics.

Victoria Komova of Russia on Saturday claimed the women’s gold medal in uneven bars. The 16-year-old all-rounder collected 15.500 points, outperforming her compatriot Tatiana Nabieva by a marginal 0.500.
Krisztian Berki of Hungary grabbed gold medal in pommel horse for the second time at the gymnastics world championships Saturday in Tokyo.
Berki collected a score of 15.833 points. The second and third places went to French Cyril Tommasone and Louis Smith of Britain. Their scores were 15.266 and 15.066 respectively.
Berki was a pommel horse specialist and the 2010 world champion on the apparatus.
Mckayla Maroney of the United States grabbed the women’s gold medal in vault.
Victoria Komova of Russia claimed the women’s gold medal in uneven bars at the gymnastics world championships in Tokyo.
The 16-year-old all-rounder staged a clean and impressive performance to collect a score of 15.500, outperforming her compatriot Tatiana Nabieva by a marginal 0.500 points. Chinese senior gymnast Huang Qiushuang took the bronze medal by scoring 14.833 points.
Komova was the silver medalist of the all-around competition in the event and a 2010 Youth Olympics Games champion.
