China dazzles in 5 Ribbons, Japan edges gold in 3 Balls/2 Hoops — Kazakhstan keeps Asia on the podium in Baku

Baku, Azerbaijan – April 20, 2025 It was a big weekend for Asia at the FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku. From flawless execution to bold choreography, China, Japan, and Kazakhstan made their presence loud and clear in the group finals.

The spotlight first turned to the 5 Ribbons final, where China delivered a powerful and precise performance that stood out from the very first toss. Their score of 25.150 secured them the gold medal — a well-earned result that reflected their consistency, control, and unmistakable elegance on the floor.
Kazakhstan, bringing impressive energy and cohesion, tied with Bulgaria for third place at 21.850 — a result that confirms the team’s rising reputation on the international scene.

Over in the 3 Balls & 2 Hoops final, it was a thrilling head-to-head between Japan and China. Japan claimed the top spot by the narrowest of margins, scoring 27.200 to China’s 27.100. Japan’s routine was smooth, sharp, and full of creative touches that gave them the edge in one of the tightest showdowns of the event.

A-Rahman Alshathri, President of the Asian Gymnastics Union, shared his thoughts after the finals:
