AGU Media, DOHA (QAT): China’s three-time individual World (2011, 2013 and 2015) and double The World Games (2013 & 2017) champion Jia Fangfang likely to throw a strong challenge to Russia’s reigning women tumbling world champion Anna Korobeinikova at the 32nd FIG Trampoline World Championships, which starts in Sofia, Bulgaria, on Thursday.

The 34-year-old Korobeinikova has won the world titles since 2005, but this time the Russia may face a stiff challenge from Jia.

“I’m in a good condition and feel well accustomed to the equipment and environment. I admire Anna’s accomplishments and I would like to learn from her experience and follow her,” said the Chinese, who will be aiming for nothing less than gold in both the individual and team competition.

The 23-year-old first defeated her idol at the world stage in 2011 and continued her winning streak ever since.

However, Korobeinikova fought her way back, winning world bronze at the 2015 World Championship and then claimed silver at this summer’s The World Games.

“I like Jia’s style. She has a very successful career in front of her. I know that as we get older, injuries come and it gets more difficult. It’s very important to stay fit and wish her all the best,” said Korobeinikova, who has been competing for nearly 20 years.
