FIG Artistic Gymnastics Judges Course Concludes in Doha, Enhancing Technical Standards

Doha, Qatar: The FIG Artistic Gymnastics Judges Course successfully concluded in Doha, reinforcing the commitment to developing elite-level referees in the sport.

The five-day course, hosted by the Qatar Gymnastics Federation (QGF) in collaboration with the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), brought together 85 judges from 28 countries, including Jordan, the People’s Republic of China, India, South Korea, Italy, Brazil, Australia, and hosts Qatar.

Led by FIG technical experts Donatella Sacchi (Italy) and Liubov Andrianova (Russia), the course focused on the latest rule modifications and provided extensive theoretical and practical training to enhance judging accuracy at international competitions.

Developing Excellence in Judging

QGF President Ali Al-Hitmi emphasized the importance of equipping referees with the latest knowledge in gymnastics judging.

“This course not only ensures that referees stay updated with evolving gymnastics regulations but also provides them with an opportunity to obtain an international refereeing badge, allowing them to officiate at global events,” said Al-Hitmi.

Donatella Sacchi, President of FIG’s Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Technical Committee, praised the dedication and engagement of the participants, expressing confidence in their ability to contribute to the sport’s growth in Qatar and beyond.

At the conclusion of the course, referees underwent evaluations to assess their understanding of the curriculum, with results to be reviewed by FIG’s Technical Committee.

The FIG Artistic Gymnastics Judges Course is part of QGF’s and AGU’s ongoing commitment to raising the technical standards of gymnastics, ensuring that judges, coaches, and officials are well-equipped to meet the demands of international competition.
