Hanoi Hosts 9th Aerobic Gymnastics Asian Championship with 320+ Participants
Hanoi (VNA) – The 9th Aerobic Gymnastics Asian Championship commenced on June 8 in Hanoi, with over 320 gymnasts and the involvement of 23 esteemed judges from across the region.
The championship, graced by the presence of athletes and coaches representing 14 countries and territories, promises an exhilarating display of talent and skill. With more than 320 gymnasts in attendance, this edition of the championship underscores the growing popularity and significance of aerobic gymnastics in Asia.
Athletes will compete across 18 categories, contending for a total of 68 sets of medals. The diverse range of categories includes men’s and women’s singles and doubles, mixed doubles, teams of three and five, and aerobic dance, catering to participants across three age groups: 12-14, 15-17, and over 18.
Vietnam, as the host nation, showcases its commitment to the sport with a strong contingent of 68 members, including 51 athletes competing across all 18 categories.
During the opening ceremony, Yagi Kitagawa Tammy, President of the Aerobic Gymnastics Technical Committee of the AGU, praised Vietnam’s dedication to fostering the sport’s development over the years. Tammy also commended Vietnam’s renowned hospitality and expertise in organizing major events within the region.
