Historic Victory: Carlos Yulo Secures the Philippines’ First Olympic Gymnastics Gold at Paris 2024

Paris, August 3, 2024 – The Olympic arena was filled with emotion as Carlos Yulo shed tears of joy after winning the gold medal in the men’s floor exercise at the Paris 2024 Games. This landmark victory is the first Olympic gymnastics medal ever for the Philippines, marking a historic achievement for the nation.

The 24-year-old gymnast from Manila delivered a flawless performance, earning a top score of 15.000. His routine was particularly distinguished by a flawless three-and-a-half twist dismount, performed with exceptional skill and confidence.

In recognition of his historic achievement, the House of Representatives of the Philippines has announced a PHP 3 million award for Yulo.
