Jamaica hire Chinese experts to develop gymnastics

Doha (Qatar), AGU Office: Jamaica has hired experienced Chinese coaches on a month-long stint to help develop the sport in the Caribbean island nation.
Zou Zhenqqiu, who has also coached in Bolivia and Saudi Arabia, is heading a seven-memeber coaching team.
“The coaches will visit our gyms and design programmes to help us move forward,” Jamaica Amateur Gymnastics Association President Nicole Grant-Brown told a news website.
“I think this will definitely boost gymnastics because we’re new in the sport. Our programmes are based on trial and error methods. We want to learn how to do things differently Mr Zhenqqiu’s duty will be guide Jamaica’s promising gymnasts.”
A 16-member team will be visiting China next summer as part of a three-year agreement between Jamaica and China.
“China has been among the forerunners. They are very good at producing talented players. We’re also contemplating to send a team to the 2024 Olympics,” added Grant-Brown.
