Record entries for Junior Artistic Asian Championships in Jakarta

Doha (Qatar) AGU Office: Heavyweights China will hope to dominate at the 15th Junior Artistic Asian Championships which starts from April 25-28 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
For the first time, a record 24 countries will field 139 gymnasts including 78 MAG and 61 WAG in the continental competition.
China, who claimed the all-around, vault bar, beam, floor and team honours, has entered with five men and as many in the women’s category.
The minimum age requirement is 14-17 and 13-15 for the MAG and WAG respectively.
Other strong contenders Japan and Korea are also participating along with Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, North Korea, the Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Syria, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Vietnam will also be seen in action.
This year’s championships will be a qualification event for the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Meanwhile, Taishan Sports, which has recently joined Asian Gymnastics Union as official partner, will provide the equipment for the competition in the beautifull hall Istora Senayan of Jakarta.
