The Asian Gymnastics Union (AGU) held its 22nd Congress in Doha (QAT) on 14th –16th January 2023.
On behalf of the AGU authorities and the Asian gymnastics community, AGU offers sincere condolences to the families and friends of the members we have lost in the last two years.
Delegates representing 32 national federations took part. Below is a summary of the main decisions taken by member federations over the two days of meetings.
NEW MEMBERS – GYMNASTICS CONTINUES ITS EXPANSION
Tajikistan (TJK) and Laos (LAO) are now part of the AGU, allowing Gymnastics to put down roots in new territories. With these two new affiliated members, the AGU now counts a total of 39 federations.
- The Congress has unanimously approved the minutes of the last Congress in UZB 2021
- The Congress took note of the distribution of AGU Development project for the year 2023.
- The Congress took note of the AGU events for the year 2023-2024.
- The Congress has unanimously approved the accounts and the auditors report as well as the biennial financial plan and Auditors’ report.
- The Congress has unanimously approved the EC recommendation to activate parkour as an official discipline that will be immediately activated after Congress.
- The Congress elected the new AGU Authorities for the cycle 2023-2026.
- The Congress has approved the proposal made by EC regarding to the election of Vice-President- Central South zone.
“After the Uzbek federation withdrew Mr. Ruslan’s candidacy for the south-central zone. The Federation nomination that included Mr. Timur Abduvaliev, as AGU considered him a late nomination with Mrs. Zahra from IRAN, while Congress rejected the lists of late candidates, the position became empty. According to the article 16.15 of AGU statute, the election of VP must be completed and the decision to select the candidate was transmitted to the delegates of central south zone to choose nthrough a secret ballot”.
- The Congress has unanimously approved the proposal made by the EC related to nomination of ACRO Technical Committee by the Executive Committee instead of elections by the Congress.
- The Congress renewed the sponsorship contract between AGU and Taishan Sports Equipment.
