China’s Qi Qi picks up third gold in Artistic Asian Junior Championships

JAKARTA, Indonesia: Qi Qi picked up her third gold at the 15th Artistic Asian Junior Championships at Istora Senayan to emerge as one of the brightest prospects for China.

She was way ahead of Japan’s Niyama Ayumi to win the women’s vault title with 14.050 points.

Ayumi (13.913) had a close battle with her compatriot Miyata Shoko, who finished third (13.788).

They were followed by Anastasia Miroshnichenko (Uzbekistan), Darya Yassinskaya (Kazakhstan) and Solyi Shin (South Korea), but all of them had very marginal difference in their points.

India’s Prothishta Samanta finished seventh while Uzbekistan’s Anna Silnova ended eighth.

China bagged the other gold on offer when Yin Sisi (13.675) took the gold in women’s uneven bars, but her point difference with South Korea’s silver medallist Yunseo Lee was just 0.50. Japan’s Ikeda Haruka came third with 12.550.

Miroshnichenko once again had to be contented with a fourth-place finish ahead of China’s Zhao Shiting, who had won a team gold and silver in individual all-around on Thursday.

Dildora Aripova (Uzbekistan), Ashikawa Urara (Japan) and Korea’s Dayeong Lee completed the last three positions.
