Dong wins double gold in FIG Trampoline World Cup

Doha (Qatar) AGU Office: Three-time Olympic medallist Dong Dong won two gold medals in the men’s events to help China dominate in the year’s first FIG Trampoline World Cup in Brescia, Italy.
The 2012 Olympic champion, who claimed the men’s individual gold in the last World Cup event of 2017 in Valladolid, finished ahead of Belarus’s Aleh Rabtsau and Russia’s Andrey Yudin with a score of 60,430.
Yudin scored highest for difficulty, but Dong produced a routine unrivalled for its execution (16,700) and horizontal displacement (9,200).
Compatriot Gao Lei, who retained his world title last November in Sofia, made a mistake in the middle of his routine and finished seventh.
The 29-year-old Dong also won the men’s Synchro gold alongside Tu Xiao as the pair, four-time world champions and twice gold medallists at The World Games, scored an unsurpassed 53,700.
Japan’s Daiki Kishi and Ryosuke Sakai were second and Kazakhstan’s Pirmammad Aliyev and Danil Mussabayev came third.
Meanwhile, Zhu Xueying and Zhu Shouli won the women’s synchronised competition. But there was no clean sweep for the Chinese as Russia’s Irina Kundius won the women’s individual event followed by Xueying and Shouli.
