Zhao wins three gold in Sr Asian RG Championships

DOHA (QAT) AGU Office: China’s Zhao Yating started where she had left off on Saturday by winning the remaining two gold medals in the Individual Apparatus Final (CLUBS & RIBBON)) at the 11th Senior Asian Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Pattaya (Thailand) here Sunday.
Zhao added two more gold medals to the Hoop title she won on Saturday to end the competition on a high.
The 18-year-old, who first tried rhythmic gymnastics at age three in Yangquan and began formal training at age six, tallied 17,850 points in Clubs final. She was followed by Adilya Tlekenova (KAZ, 17,450) and Ruriko Shibayama (JPN, 17,450) respectively.
The Beijing girl collected 16,850 points in Ribbon finals for the gold while Shibayama (16,600) and Tlekenova (16,200) won silver and bronze respectively.
But Japan triumphed in the Groups All-Around (3 HOOPS/2 pairs CLUBS) and Groups All-Around (5 BALLS/3 HOOPS /2 pairs CLUBS).
In the first event, Japan (23,950) was ahead of China (21,850) and Uzbekistan (21,700), and in the other the Japanese gymnasts proved their overall superiority by winning the gold with 48,650 points. Uzbekistan (44,950) and China (44,150) took silver and bronze respectively.
However, Uzbekistan proved their superiority in Teams. They had a collective points of 146,700 which was better than China (141,900) and Japan (139,750).
The Uzbek girls also claimed the Apparatus Final Groups (3 HOOPS/2 pairs CLUBS) gold with 23,200 points. China (21,850) and Japan (20,550) took the silver and bronze respectively.
