Brick Parkour Asian Tour 2023 Takes Off with a Spectacular Start in Indonesia

Jakarta, August 12, 2023 – The exhilarating journey of the Brick Parkour Asian Tour 2023 has commenced with a resounding success as Indonesia proudly hosted the first series of the tour in Tangerang, Banten on Saturday, August 12th. The event was inaugurated by Indonesia’s esteemed Youth and Sports Minister, Dito Ariotedjo, who lauded the Indonesian Gymnastics Association (Persani) for bringing this unique and dynamic sport to the nation.

The Brick Parkour Asian Tour is a groundbreaking initiative that aims to promote and expand the reach of parkour across Southeast Asia. Organized by Brick, a brand dedicated to inspiring people to embrace parkour, and in collaboration with the FIG (Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique), this tour promises to introduce the sport to a fresh audience while fostering engagement within local communities.

Mathieu Dumet, the Brand Manager of Brick, spoke of the ambitious aspirations behind the tour, stating, “We are thrilled to partner with the FIG for this monumental tour. Brick’s core mission is to inspire as many individuals as possible to become part of the parkour movement. This tour offers us a perfect platform to introduce this exhilarating sport to an entirely new audience.”

FIG President Morinari Watanabe praised the partnership with Brick as a substantial investment in the development of parkour in South-East Asia. He emphasized that the Brick Parkour Asian Tour holds the potential to support the growth of the sport in the region, fostering a thriving parkour community.

The Indonesian leg of the Brick Parkour Asian Tour witnessed the vibrant participation of at least 285 athletes across three categories: speed, freestyle, and skill. These enthusiastic participants showcased their utmost skills, vying for victory and the opportunity to represent their nation on the global stage. Four international athletes, namely Javier Rodriguez (Mexico), Caryl Cordt-Moller (Switzerland), Audrey Johnson (United States), and Stephanie (Australia), are set to compete against the winners from each category.

Minister Ariotedjo encouraged the participants to give their best and assured the unwavering support of the Youth and Sports Ministry for both parkour and gymnastics. He emphasized the importance of projecting Indonesia’s prowess on the world stage through exceptional performances.

The Brick Parkour Asian Tour is poised to continue its exciting journey through Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. With a vision to bring parkour into the mainstream and create a strong community of enthusiasts, this tour is set to leave an indelible mark on the Southeast Asian sports landscape.
