Parkour Asian Tour: Vietnam Shines as a Host and Promoter of Parkour

Hanoi, Vietnam – August 26, 2023 – A historic moment unfolded in Vietnam as the Asian Gymnastics Union, in collaboration with the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), successfully organized the “Experience Parkour Together” event, known as  Brick Parkour Asian Tour. This event marked the first time that such a gathering of world-class athletes had taken place in Vietnam.

The General director of sport department and physical education, Dang Ha Viet, highlighted the significance of Parkour’s inclusion as an official discipline by FIG since 2018. In 2022, FIG hosted the inaugural World Championship in Tokyo, Japan, with participants from five continents, signaling their commitment to include Parkour in the 2028 Olympic Games.

Dang Ha Viet emphasized Vietnam’s honor in hosting this event, aimed at promoting Parkour to the youth of Southeast Asia and strengthening international ties within the sport. He also encouraged experts, coaches, and renowned athletes present to explore Hanoi’s rich culture and history.

Charles Perriere , President of the FIG Parkour Technical Commission, expressed his delight in visiting Vietnam, emphasizing the sport’s values, such as overcoming obstacles and developing resilience, which extend beyond the physical domain.

The Parkour Asian Tour drew a massive audience, boosted by the participation of famous athletes like Audrey Johnson (USA), Cordt-Moeller (Switzerland), Javier Rodriguez (Mexico), and Stephania Zitis (Australia). International athletes engaged with young enthusiasts, sharing their experiences and guidance.

The event showcased exhilarating performances and featured competitive segments for both local and international athletes. It served as a unique opportunity for Vietnamese youth to gain deeper insights into the world of Parkour.

The Parkour Asian Tour in Vietnam represents a significant step forward in the promotion of Parkour not only in Vietnam but also throughout the Southeast Asian region, fostering cultural exchange and sportsmanship on a global scale.
