Cambodia send gymnast for training in China
DOHA (QAT) AGU Office: The Cambodian gymnast Vy Pheatra will participate in an intensive training in China before the 2019 Manila SEA Games, the Cambodian Gymnastics Federation (CGF) said in a release.
Pheatra will spend an eight-month training stint in Shantou, Guangdong (CHN).
“It’s not the first time that the federation has sent athletes to practice in China under the leadership of Dr. Thong Khon, President of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia,” said CGF Secretary General Noy Sophanna.
The training costs would be borne by the Royal Government of Cambodia through the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. A monthly stipend would be provided through the federation while the Chinese authorities also agreed to support the athletes.
“Tourist arrivals from Guangdong province visiting Cambodia is strong and we have been working with China, especially in Guangdong for more than two years,” added Sophanna.
