Tan Sze En’s absence a big blow to Singapore

AGU Media, DOHA (QAT): Tan Sze En, one of the top artistic gymnasts in the Singaporean squad, will miss the 29th SEA Games, currently underway in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, following a left ankle fracture.
The 16-year-old injured during a training session last week while executing a round off double twist discount from the balance beam.
Nadine Joy Nathan, Kelsie Muir, Zeng Qiyan, Mei Togawa  and Colette Chan are the other members in the contingent.
Nadine, Kelsie and Qiyan competed at the last edition where Singapore won a silver medal Mei and Colette were debutants.
Despite her absence, Singapore Gymnastics’ General Manager Karen Norden exuded confidence the team will do well.
“We’ve an experienced team and the girls are fully prepared for all the four apparatus,” said Norden.
In the team competition, the four best individual scores for each apparatus (floor exercise, uneven bars, balance beam and vault) are counted towards the total score.
